The goal of this project was to support the environmental interests of the population and ensure public involvement in improving the waste management at a local level by promoting and fostering the introduction of waste recycling for communities with Local Environmental Action Plans (LEAPs). The Project was implemented in Kutaisi, Tkibuli and Bolnisi.
Through the preparation of publications, TV programs, and training-seminars, the population was provided with information about protection of their environmental rights, modern waste management methods, and requirements and penalty sanctions envisaged by the Waste Management Code of Georgia. In Tkibuli, the conditions for separate collection of plastic and paper waste were created and four recycling bins placed about the municipality.
The Project corresponds with the topic of Civic Engagement and Environmental Protection.
