A common Forum for CSOs from Guria, Imereti and Racha-Lechkhumi for PAR Roadmap Monitoring
Imereti Scientists Union “Spectri” as a partner was participating in the implementation of the project with Lead partner the Cultural-Humanitarian Fund “Sukhumi” and partner the Fund of Women-Entrepreneurs.
The European Union supports the democratic development of Georgia. After the signing of the Association Agreement, the Public Administration Reform (PAR) was an important element to sustain the democratic turn of Georgia. Achieving an efficient and transparent public administration was the reform’s proclaimed aim and had been agreed upon between the European Union and the Georgian government.
A Civil Society Forum for Western Georgia was created. Civil Society Organizations from Imereti, Guria and Racha-Lechkhumi cooperated and monitor the implementation of the PAR in 8 municipalities. The results were based on a monitoring mechanism, measuring the efficiency, transparency and inclusiveness of local authorities in Khoni, Bagdati, Terjola, Vani, Ozurgeti, Lanchkhuti, Tsageri and Ambrolauri.
Local needs’ assessment was carried out and relevant recommendations were elaborated and included in Local Action Plans of target municipalities. Regular reports on PAR monitoring and regional developments were published,
Fund “Sukhumi”, along with the project partners, made the voice of civil society work in Western Georgia heard: a national advocacy campaign and a comprehensive media campaign will highlight the importance and the progress of civil society work in Western Georgia.
The project was funded by the European Union.
